J.Crew, in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, surprised Heritage Elementary School and Heritage High School with a $20,000 donation. Each school received $7,500 to fund beautification projects on their shared campus. The two schools’ arts teachers also received $500 each to purchase the tools and materials they need for their classrooms.

This is the second time J.Crew has teamed up with AdoptAClassroom.org to donate to LCS arts programs this school year. In the fall, they donated $20,000, which was split between the division’s 48 arts teachers and spent on classroom supplies.

"We’re grateful for this generous gift, which will not only enhance the beauty of our school environment but also enrich the creative spirits of our young learners,” said Heritage Elementary principal Sharon Anderson.

The funds will be used to add murals to both school buildings, adding color and character to halls and common areas. Elementary students will have opportunities to provide input on the murals, and high school students will help paint them, leaving their mark on their schools.

“This donation will empower us to provide our students with a space that fosters educational excellence and inspires a sense of pride and belonging. On behalf of our school community, I extend our gratitude for this investment in our students,” said Heritage High principal Tim Beatty.

Arts teachers at both schools will use their portions of the donated funds to enhance classroom instruction. The donations will fund tools like art supplies, costumes for theatre productions, sheet music, and more.

“J.Crew believes that arts education is essential for every child's development and success. Visual arts, theater, and music are often the most vulnerable to school budget cuts,” said AdoptAClassroom.org chief corporate partnerships and marketing officer Carolyn Aberman. “When J.Crew funds PreK-12 school arts programs, they are both fostering students' creative thinking and empowering art teachers, telling them what they are doing is important and of real value to our next generation of leaders.”
