Have you heard? E. C. Glass High School musicians are making incredible noise across the state! Students from Glass orchestra, band, and chorus auditioned successfully this year, providing well-rounded representation for LCS in the performing arts.
E. C. Glass student Ina Lynch has been named the top piccolo player in Virginia this year. Ina qualified for All-State tryouts by winning the top spot in the district for the Senior Regional Orchestra earlier this year. This is an unparalleled honor that is earned only through a lot of hard work, long hours of preparation, unparalleled musicianship, and a great audition! She will be participating in a virtual event later in April with the rest of Virginia's best high school musicians and some of the country's best music educators!
E. C. Glass orchestra student Brady Mandeville has also received recognition for his success at the virtual All-State orchestra auditions. Brady placed second in the entire state. He will be representing E. C. Glass and performing as part of a virtual event that will premiere in May.
Also representing the Hilltoppers are these outstanding singers who excelled at the virtual auditions for All-State chorus:
2021 All-Virginia Choir Delegates
Isabel Ownby: Soprano II, 1st Delegate SATB Choir
Morgan Cook: Bass I, 2nd Delegate SATB Choir
Drew Morris: Bass II, 1st Delegate SATB Choir
Claire Thornton: Soprano I, 2nd Alternate Delegate
Jodilee Irby: Alto I, 1st Alternate Delegate
Please Note: There are no state rankings for All-VA Chorus. Each of the 16 districts in Virginia is allotted 2 delegates and 2 alternate delegates for each voice part for the SATB & SSAA choirs. (1st Delegate is 1st place, 2nd delegate is 2nd place, and so forth).
This All-State event will also be held virtually this year, and will premiere at the end of May.
Students from all over Virginia participate in these competitive auditions, and LCS is proud to announce these excellent achievements.
