On the day before Valentine’s Day, Gifted Opportunity Center students at R. S. Payne Elementary School celebrated with “I Love Math Day.”
Guest speakers from different professions talked about how they use math in their jobs. Presenters included a poet, artist, musician, nurse, physical therapist, engineer, theater professor, and veterinarian.
Students participated in a variety of hands-on math activities that highlighted the fun and beauty of math. Some examples included drawing a fractal, using calipers to measure to very small parts of an inch, creating an array mural, prime and composite Twister, a math magic trick, code breaking, and tons more!
