Welcome to all of our new BHS families and welcome back to our returning families! This is a lot of information in our FIRST Howler for the year, but it is all important, so please take a few minutes to read it.
The Husky Howler will be sent every Monday (typically) and will contain very important information from the school and the PTO. Please take a few minutes to read it so you can stay informed. Also attached is a Get Connected page with all of the other ways you can stay connnected, including our school Google calendar which has all of the important events for the year so you can plan ahead. We will add events as they are scheduled as well.
DRILLS
We will be having our first fire drill today. Just wanted you to be aware so you can talk about it with your child if necessary.
PARENT PICK-UP LINE
Thank you all for your patience as we streamline our process to get almost 100 cars through the pick-up line. We know everyone is in a hurry, but our first priority is to keep students SAFE. Thank you to all of the parents who got in their cars instead of standing at the 'walker' line. We still encourage those who actually walk from their homes to continue to do so. We will do our best to release your child as soon as possible. Please display your number so we can clearly see it from a distance. If you lay it flat on the dashboard, we cannot see it well. This allows us to have the students lined up and ready to load quickly. If you do not have a number or need an extra for another pick-up person, please email Debbie Riley at [email protected]. We will also have radios to communicate with each other to increase our efficiency. Again, thank you for your patience! I am confident you will be seeing great improvements soon! (I'm hoping for TODAY!)
ATTENDANCE
If your child is absent, please call the school or email Virgie Landrum at THIS email: bhsattendance@lcsedu.
BHS T-SHIRTS
This year the PTO, with additional sponsorship from Homestead Creamery, will be providing each BHS student with a free BHS t-shirt! Parents: If you have not provided your child's t-shirt size to the teacher, please do so today.
VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED EACH SCHOOL YEAR
LCS requires all volunteers to do a background check online EACH school year. This includes classroom volunteers, PTO, field trip chaperones, etc. You will also need your photo ID when you check in at school. Please do this now, so when a volunteer opportunity is available, you are already approved. The process can take several weeks. Also, if you have a grandparent/relative who may ever want to volunteer, please have them complete the application as well. Thank you in advance for volunteering!
Go to https://www.lcsedu.net/community/volunteer and select "School Volunteer Application." You will receive a confirmation email that states that your clearance is in process. Additionally, you will receive an email 72 hours later regarding your application's completion status. You must be approved as a volunteer BEFORE you can volunteer. If you are unable to complete this application or if you have technical questions, please feel free to call the office at Bedford Hills and they will direct to you to your next steps. Thank you for your willingness to serve our students and the Bedford Hills community!
WAYS TO VOLUNTEER
To help us connect you to volunteer opportunities, please return the yellow Volunteer Info Sheet that was in your registration packet. Or you can submit it online by visiting https://forms.gle/ch51S1GxsxQ64EYW8 and filling in the information.
