It’s a few days before school starts, what do I need to do as an LCS parent?
We are here for you as you begin this partnership with your student.
-
Make sure you have completed Online Registration through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Updated email addresses and phone numbers will be very important as we start remote learning on August 24th. Please call your child’s school if you have any questions about how to log in to the portal. Leave a message if you reach a voicemail.
-
If your child is in grades 3-12, please make sure they are able to access their LCS Gmail account on the LCS-issued Chromebook.
-
For families of PreK-2 students who do not have access to a family device (smartphone, tablet, iPad, laptop, etc.), please call your child’s school or send an email to [email protected]. We’ll need your name, your LCS student's name, student's school, and the best contact number for us to reach you. We will do our best to accommodate you with one device per family as we are able.
-
Be on the lookout for communications from your child’s school and/or teacher about the upcoming school year.
-
Think about a possible schedule for remote learning that works best for your family. LCS remote learning was designed to be mostly asynchronous so families could work in a manner that best suits their needs. Teachers will provide materials, flipped videos, assessments, and assignments that can be accessed at any time through Seesaw (K-2) and Google Classroom (3-12). Students will be given a time frame during which they can connect with the teacher for support.
-
The first set of instructional materials will be released for LCS students starting on Monday August, 24th. Teachers will be available various times each week for live support.
It’s the morning of August 24th, what should I do as an LCS parent?
Remember, remote learning with LCS does not have to be done during the traditional school hours. The first remote learning opportunities will be available starting August 24th. You may choose to complete remote learning when it’s the most convenient for your family. If you are an early riser—have breakfast, get the family dressed—then access the learning resources provided by the teacher. If you are a late sleeper—get your rest and start your daily routine as usual—there is no need to be on a device by 8:00 a.m., you can access the materials at any time. If you are a working parent, again, follow your daily schedule and access the learning materials during family time later in the day or the evening. How do I access the learning materials?
-
As a parent of a PreK-2 student, the online learning platform is called Seesaw. The login page can be found at https://app.seesaw.me/#/login. Your child’s teacher will reach out to you by email with a unique Home Learning Code that you’ll use to access your child’s account.
-
As a parent of a student in grades 3-12, please help your child access Google Classroom. Once logged in to their Chromebook, they will also be logged in to their Google account. The LCS student Google account contains their email, their Google Classroom, and many other Google resources they will use for Remote Learning. Click here to see a guide for how to use Chromebooks and access Google accounts. Teachers will invite students to Google Classroom via LCS student email accounts.
Ready, Set, Learn.
