Superintendent Search

The Lynchburg City School Board is seeking a highly qualified, honest, and collaborative Superintendent with integrity to lead the division who will serve as an advocate for public education. The Board wants the successful candidate to assume the responsibilities of the position on or before July 1, 2025. 

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development is engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the School Board in identifying and screening the candidates.

LCS Superintendent Position Description

As it looks to best meet the needs of students, families, staff members, and community members in the years ahead, the School Board sought feedback to help inform the search process for the superintendent. School and community stakeholder groups were invited to attend a series of feedback sessions, during which they could share their thoughts on the experiences, attributes, and characteristics they think the next superintendent should have. Below is a summary of the feedback provide:

• School Board selects finalists to interview: March 2025
• Finalists Interviews with the School Board: March 2025
• Selection of new Superintendent: Early April 2025
• Start date: on or before Tuesday, July 1, 2025
